Flaming Lips to Honor Steve Jobs With Beatles Cover at O Music Awards

The Apple co-founder will be remembered in a special tribute at MTV's second O Music Awards through a cover version of 'Revolution'.

AceShowbiz -

Two weeks ago, MTV announced a plan to pay homage to Steve Jobs, and now they reveal who's chosen to do the honor. The Flaming Lips have been tapped to honor the Apple co-founder, and are set to perform a cover of The Beatles' classic song "Revolution" at the second O Music Awards.

The choice of the song couldn't be more appropriate since Steve had "profoundly changed the way people interact with music online." The former CEO of Apple Inc. had huge contribution to digital music culture by inventing iPod and iTunes music store among other things.

O Music Awards will be held in a star-studded ceremony to celebrate online artists, innovators and fans impacting digital music culture. Katy Perry, Justin Bieber, Demi Lovato and Lady GaGa are among lucky musicians who lead nomination list with two nods each.

Robyn will headline the show and take the main stage at an as-yet-undisclosed location in Los Angeles at 11:30 P.M. ET. Presenters and other performers include Kelly Clarkson, Demi Lovato, The Band Perry, Travis McCoy and Tyler, the Creator.

Beside handing out awards, the upcoming show will also attempt to make it into the Guinness record books by hosting the longest dance party in history. Should the dancers break the 55-hour barrier, there will be plenty of star wattage on hand to help celebrate it.
