Dark Red Mist Planned for 'Kick-Ass' Sequel
Movie

Dishing on the possible future for the Chris D'Amico's alter ego, comic book writer Mark Millar states Red Mist may turn into Kick-Ass' enemy in 'Kick-Ass 2'.

AceShowbiz - While "Kick-Ass" has yet to be released in theaters, ideas for "Kick-Ass 2" keep being thrown by comic book writer Mark Millar. In "Kick-Ass: Creating the Comic, Making the Movie" which has been made available for sale in book stores, he mentions that Red Mist who initially befriends Kick-Ass may become his foe in the next movie.

"Red Mist surviving, becoming the super-villain was always planned, but the idea was that he was going to be a more minor character in the first film. Then we saw what Chris (Christopher Mintz-Plasse) was capable of!" he dishes on the possible future for Red Mist. "Also, I really like the idea of somebody who people were relaxed watching on screen doing horrible things... the second movie, it's going to get very, very dark what goes on with him."

Beside speaking about the film, Millar also talks about the second volume of the comic book series, hinting that Kick-Ass' secret identity may be unveiled in the movie sequel. "One of my favourite ideas in superhero comics is the exposure of the secret identity... I like the idea of doing that to somebody like Kick-Ass, who's going to have real-world ramifications if his secret identity gets exposed. I wanted that in the first volume but there was just no room, so I shifted it all into the second volume," he shares.

Back in September 2009, Millar has stated that he believes there will be a follow-up to "Kick-Ass", saying "We don't want to sound too cocky, but we know this is good. It didn't cost that much money to make. There will definitely be another one." About the storyline, he said, "There's a basic plot. The series ends on a teaser for the next one, and the movie ends on that teaser, too."

Starring Aaron Johnson as the title character, the film is additionally supported by Chloe Moretz who plays Hit Girl, and Nicolas Cage who stars as Big Daddy. Meanwhile, playing antagonist Frank D'Amico in "Kick-Ass" is Mark Strong. Matthew Vaughn serves behind the lens for this action fantasy movie, which is set to hit U.S. theaters on April 16.
