Being kicked off with Michael Jackson tribute show which was introduced by Madonna and led by Janet Jackson, the 26th Annual MTV Video Music Awards continued with a series of live performances from big stars. Lady GaGa, Jay-Z, Beyonce Knowles, Pink and Taylor Swift were some musical guests rocking the event.

Jay-Z joined forces with Alicia Keys and performed his brand new song "Empire State of Mind". Changing her red outfit with all-white costume, Lady GaGa appeared on the stage of Radio City Music Hall on September 13 with several backing dancers donning similar clothes. She delivered a medley of her two hit singles, "LoveGame" and "Paparazzi".

Donning a leotard, Beyonce Knowles started her set with "Sweet Dreams" before then singing "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)". Like Beyonce, Pink who sang "Sober" also wore a leotard for her performance. But, she made the outfit a little different as she bared her left breast and covered its nipple with Lil' Kim-esque pink-heart pasty.

While the other musical guests got indoor performances, Taylor Swift took it to the 42nd Street Bryant Park subway station to deliver her set. She taped "You Belong with Me" performance on a NYC subway car and got the video shown on a huge screen of MTV VMAs.

"I would love to perform somewhere outside of the venue. I think it could be really cool if it was unlike anything I've ever done at an awards show, which would mean doing it at a different location," she commented on her appearance.

This year, MTV Video Music Awards was hosted by Russell Brand with Eminem, T.I. and Green Day appearing on the winners list of the event.
