Christina Aguilera will be an opening act at the 36th annual American Music Awards and make a surprise appearance singing a medley of her hit singles, including 'Keeps Gettin' Better'.

AceShowbiz - Christina Aguilera has been booked to kick off the star-studded show at this year's American Music Awards. She is set to perform a medley of her 6 hit singles including "Genie in a Bottle", "Fighter", "Beautiful", "Keeps Gettin' Better", and "Dirrty", according to US Weekly.

"We are very excited to have Christina Aguilera perform at this year's show," Dick Clark Productions President, Orly Adelson, told the publication. "She raises the bar with each live performance and you can expect something special at the 2008 American Music Awards."

Joining Christina at the show, that will be held at Los Angeles' Nokia Theatre, are Miley Cyrus, Beyonce Knowles, Coldplay, Kanye West, Jonas Brothers, Rihanna, Taylor Swift, Ne-Yo, Pink and many others. The event will be broadcast live on ABC on November 23 at 8:00-11:00 P.M., ET. and hosted by comedian Jimmy Kimmel.

In related news, Christina Aguilera has also been lined up as one of the musical guests at "Grammy Nominations Concert Live!!". Taking place also at Los Angeles' Nokia Theatre, the December-3 event will also be lightened up with performances from Mariah Carey, Celine Dion, Foo Fighters, B.B. King, and John Mayer.
