Sum 41 was a Canadian rock band that gained international fame for their energetic sound and catchy melodies, particularly with their breakthrough album "All Killer No Filler," released in 2001. Formed in Ajax, Ontario, in 1996, the band consisted of Deryck Whibley on lead vocals and rhythm guitar, Dave Baksh on lead guitar and backing vocals, Jason McCaslin on bass and backing vocals, Tom Thacker on rhythm and lead guitars and keyboards, and Frank Zummo on drums. Their music, which blended elements of punk rock and pop, resonated with a generation and helped them carve a significant niche in the rock genre.

In 1999, Sum 41 signed an international record deal with Island Records, marking the beginning of their professional journey. They released their first EP, "Half Hour of Power," in 2000, which laid the groundwork for their debut album. "All Killer No Filler" followed in 2001, featuring the hit single "Fat Lip," which soared to number one on the Billboard Modern Rock Tracks chart. This single remains their most successful track, contributing to the album's commercial success. The follow-up singles "In Too Deep" and "Motivation" also performed well, enabling the album to achieve platinum status in both the United States and the United Kingdom, as well as triple platinum in Canada.

The band continued to build on their success with the release of "Does This Look Infected?" in 2002, which further established them in the rock scene. Singles like "The Hell Song" and "Still Waiting" received substantial radio play and charted highly, showcasing the band's knack for creating anthemic rock songs. Their next album, "Chuck," released in 2004, featured tracks such as "We're All to Blame" and "Pieces," which helped the album reach number 10 on the Billboard 200, solidifying their status as a prominent rock act.

In 2007, Sum 41 released "Underclass Hero," which was met with mixed reviews but became their highest-charting album to date, marking the end of their tenure with Aquarius Records. They returned to Island Records for "Screaming Bloody Murder" in 2011, but it did not achieve the same commercial success as its predecessors. After a hiatus, the band released "13 Voices" in 2016, which was well-received and recognized by IMPALA with a double gold award for sales in Europe. Their next album, "Order in Decline," came out on July 19, 2019, and marked their last project with Hopeless Records.

Sum 41's final studio album, "Heaven :x: Hell," was released on March 29, 2024, through Rise Records. After an extensive career that included over 100 performances a year and lengthy global tours, the band disbanded in March 2025 following a final worldwide headlining tour and their induction into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame. Throughout their career, Sum 41 received several accolades, including two Juno Awards for Group of the Year in 2003 and Rock Album of the Year for "Chuck" in 2005. They were also nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance for the song "Blood in My Eyes." From their inception to 2016, they ranked as the 31st best-selling Canadian artist in Canada, reflecting their lasting impact on the music industry.
