Elisabeth Moss Reveals How Uncomfortable Filming Peggy Olson's 'Mad Men' Hallway Scene

Peggy Olson might have one of the most epic scenes on "", but revealed that filming the hallway scene wasn't as cool as it's seen on TV. In season 7's episode titled "Lost Horizon", Peggy walked into McCann-Erickson with a box of her belongings and Bert Cooper's obscene painting while smoking a cigarette.

"It was not cool at all," Moss told on "" about filming the scene. "I was holding this box, which, everything on 'Mad Men' is super real, so they made the box really heavy ... The painting is kind of awkward and kind of large, and they wanted me to hold it so that you could see it in certain shots. And then the cigarette - it's actually really difficult to do. James Dean makes it look super cool and easy, but it's actually really hard to hold a cigarette in your mouth and walk."

Matt Weiner talked about "" finale in the first interview since the episode aired Sunday, May 17. Sitting down with writer A.M. Homes at the New York Public Library, he confirms that the scene which saw 's Don meditating on a hillside before the "Hilltop" coke ad was shown was meant to say that Don was the person who invented the iconic commercial.

Weiner saw "the idea that someone in an enlightened state might have created something that's very pure" as a good way to wrap up the show. He added, "That ad to me is the best ad ever made, and it comes from a very good place. ... That ad in particular is so much of its time, so beautiful and, I don't think, as - I don't know what the word is - villainous as the snark of today."

At the final moments of "", 's Don Draper was seen smiling while doing yoga before the screen cut to the "I'd like to buy the world a Coke" commercial. This led to speculation that Don came up with the idea of the ad during the meditative moment.

Talking in an interview with the New York Times about the series finale, the actor seems to agree with this interpretation of the end of the series. He says that "there probably is" a correct interpretation to it, "but I think, like most stories that we go back to, that it's a little bit ambiguous."

Ahead of the farewell episode of "", AMC has released a final promo that will make fans feel nostalgic. The spoiler-free video, set to 1975's song "Times of Your Life", is presented from Don Draper's perspective and features memorable, moving scenes from the series.

The series finale of the period drama is slated to air Sunday, May 17 at 10 P.M. ET on AMC. Prior to that, the cable channel plans a "Mad Men" marathon to let fans catch up with the series. All 91 episodes of the show will air beginning Wednesday, May 13 at 6 P.M. ET.


'Mad Men' Cast Donate Show's Relics to Smithsonian Museum

"" is prepping for its exit this summer, but it will live on at the Smithsonian Institution. Some of the show's iconic items, such as Don Draper's trademark gray suit and fedora, were donated to the National Museum of American History on Friday, March 27.

Besides costumes, props, sketches, scripts and even a bar cart from the show found place in the museum. They will be on display on the museum as part of an exhibit that examines American business from the country's founding up through the present day.

Pete seemingly begins to notice Peggy again, while Betty is lounging in a chair. Megan bares her midriff in a lacy white bell-bottom outfit, while Don who wears a blue suit is smoking before walking away from the camera. Roger, meanwhile, sports a new hairstyle with long sideburns.


AMC Sets Premiere Date for 'Mad Men' Final Episodes

The ladies, in particular, are dressed in '70s-inspired fashion as they're ready to aboard a plane. The video ends with a glimpse of Don standing on the door of a plane as he's going to descend the stairs, and features a tagline, "It's all up in the air."

Not giving away any plot details, the 15-second clip shows 's Don Draper descending the stairs of a TWA airplane in slow motion while he's putting his hat on. An earlier version of the video features Wax Tailor's jazzy version of "Que Sera", but it is now set to a soft tune of string instruments and jet noise.

The seventh and final season of the period drama series is split into two parts consisting of seven episodes each. The first part dubbed "The Beginning" will premiere Sunday, April 13 at 9/8c on AMC, while the second half called "The End of an Era" is slated to air in 2015.

The first day of production for "" final season was disrupted by a shooting at Los Angeles International Airport on Friday, November 1. A crewmember, key grip Dustin Woods, tweeted that the filming was halted when LAXPD officers told them to shut down.

"We are filming at LAX. Gun fire. Locked down. Evacuating!" he tweeted. "We are at Terminal 4 AA when LAXPD came in with guns drawn said get back inside active shooter on site." He added later, "Police K-9 unit going through AA arrival terminal right now. Should be getting the all clear shortly."


Matthew Weiner Rules Out 'Mad Men' Spin-Off

Despite using "" formula of splitting the final season into two parts, "" won't follow in the footsteps of the crime drama series with a spin-off. Despite speculations on a potential spin-off to the period drama, series creator Matthew Weiner says it won't happen.

"There's no chance," Weiner tells The Hollywood Reporter at an Emmy nominees party when asked about a possible "Mad Men" spin-off. Referring to other AMC shows "Breaking Bad" and "" which both get spin-off treatment, he adds, "No judgment against anybody else -- but this is it. This is the story. When it's done, it's done."


'Mad Men' Final Season Split Into Two Parts for 2014 and 2015

Using "" formula, "" will also split its final season into two parts. The seventh and last installment of the period drama series has been expanded from its initial 13-episode order to 14 episodes, with the first half ("The Beginning") set to air in spring 2014 and the second half ("The End of an Era") airing a year later in spring 2015.

"This approach has worked well for many programs across multiple networks, and, most recently for us with Breaking Bad which attracted nearly double the number of viewers to its second half premiere than had watched any previous episode," says Charlie Collier, AMC president.
