'Mad Men' Cast Donate Show's Relics to Smithsonian Museum

"" is prepping for its exit this summer, but it will live on at the Smithsonian Institution. Some of the show's iconic items, such as Don Draper's trademark gray suit and fedora, were donated to the National Museum of American History on Friday, March 27.

Besides costumes, props, sketches, scripts and even a bar cart from the show found place in the museum. They will be on display on the museum as part of an exhibit that examines American business from the country's founding up through the present day.

AMC has released the first trailer for the final seven episodes of "". Set to ' "Love Hangover", it is captioned with "The Party's Over," though the scenes suggest otherwise. The video doesn't give any clue about the plotline, but features the gang gathering for what appears to be a summer party outdoors.

Pete seemingly begins to notice Peggy again, while Betty is lounging in a chair. Megan bares her midriff in a lacy white bell-bottom outfit, while Don who wears a blue suit is smoking before walking away from the camera. Roger, meanwhile, sports a new hairstyle with long sideburns.


AMC Sets Premiere Date for 'Mad Men' Final Episodes

"" will soon take a bow after eight years of run. AMC announced at the Television Critics Association press tour in Pasadena, Calif. that the final seven episodes of the critically-acclaimed drama series starring would kick off April 5 at 10 P.M. ET.

The final season is split into two parts, each consisting of 7 episodes with the second half called "The End of an Era". AMC president Charlie Collier said, "It is impossible to overstate the impact it has had on AMC, and I would argue, this era of television."

Christina Hendricks Fired From Agency for Taking 'Mad Men' Role

But her manager was not keen on the idea of her portraying the 60s secretary Joan Harris. "They said, 'It's a period piece, it's never going to go anywhere. Still not revealing the storyline, the video shows the main characters, including Don Draper and wife Megan, Peggy Olson, Joan Harris, Betty Francis, Pete Campbell as well as Roger Sterling in various places around an airport.

The ladies, in particular, are dressed in '70s-inspired fashion as they're ready to aboard a plane. The video ends with a glimpse of Don standing on the door of a plane as he's going to descend the stairs, and features a tagline, "It's all up in the air."

The images, taken at Ontario Airport in California, are in the same vein with the previously-released teaser which showed Don descending the stairs of a TWA airplane. Despite the prominent airplane imagery, series creator Matthew Weiner says it has nothing to do with the show's theme.

Not giving away any plot details, the 15-second clip shows 's Don Draper descending the stairs of a TWA airplane in slow motion while he's putting his hat on. An earlier version of the video features Wax Tailor's jazzy version of "Que Sera", but it is now set to a soft tune of string instruments and jet noise.

The seventh and final season of the period drama series is split into two parts consisting of seven episodes each. The first part dubbed "The Beginning" will premiere Sunday, April 13 at 9/8c on AMC, while the second half called "The End of an Era" is slated to air in 2015.

The first day of production for "" final season was disrupted by a shooting at Los Angeles International Airport on Friday, November 1. A crewmember, key grip Dustin Woods, tweeted that the filming was halted when LAXPD officers told them to shut down.

"We are filming at LAX. Gun fire. Locked down. Evacuating!" he tweeted. "We are at Terminal 4 AA when LAXPD came in with guns drawn said get back inside active shooter on site." He added later, "Police K-9 unit going through AA arrival terminal right now. Should be getting the all clear shortly."

Despite using "" formula of splitting the final season into two parts, "" won't follow in the footsteps of the crime drama series with a spin-off. Despite speculations on a potential spin-off to the period drama, series creator Matthew Weiner says it won't happen.

"There's no chance," Weiner tells The Hollywood Reporter at an Emmy nominees party when asked about a possible "Mad Men" spin-off. Referring to other AMC shows "Breaking Bad" and "" which both get spin-off treatment, he adds, "No judgment against anybody else -- but this is it. This is the story. When it's done, it's done."

The seventh and last installment of the period drama series has been expanded from its initial 13-episode order to 14 episodes, with the first half ("The Beginning") set to air in spring 2014 and the second half ("The End of an Era") airing a year later in spring 2015.

Sky Go Apologizes After Viewers Were Denied Watching 'Mad Men' Premiere

Sky Go wrongly blocked iPad and mobile device users from watching the season 6 premiere of "". Fans who were eager to watch the new episodes on Wednesday night, April 10 on the online player were told that there were "rights restrictions" which meant it's not allowed to play the show.

Admitting there was an error, Sky released a statement through its spokesperson on Thursday, "We'd really like to apologise to any customers who tried to watch the new episodes of Mad Men live through Sky Go. In error, the service suggested that we were unable to show the episodes due to rights issues."
