The Real World Episode 21.09 Dilators, Dresses and Bow Ties

Chet being naturally inquisitive asks Katelynn about her surgery. Katelynn opens wide up to Chet explaining each step of the process. At the same time, Devyn stops by a well known dress designer Jovani. After trying on some dresses, Devyn is offered a role with their public relations team. Back at the house, Katelynn becomes frustrated as Chet keeps asking details about her medical stent. She fears Chet is looking to find her medical stent to use in pranks.

Katelynn opens up to Baya about the struggles she has endured for most of her life. Later, Chet is invited to Atlantic Records to interview "Danger Radio." Chet leaves the studio feeling confident that this has been his best interview to date. Back in Brooklyn, Ryan is disappointed that Baya has declined her offer to train at the dance conservatory. Baya admits that the reality has set in when she moved to NYC about her career in dance.

Devyn returns home from her first day at Jovani. She can't be any more happy with her new job. At the same time, Baya hits the dance studio up in an effort to expand her dancing knowledge even more. That night, Chet and Ryan stop by the Highline Ballroom to check out a "Danger Radio" show. After the concert, Chet asks the band to come hang out at the Brooklyn house, to which they agree.

Chet calls an MTV casting director on the recommendation of Pete Wentz. Chet wastes no time in snapping a few headshots with JD behind the camera. Chet admits that his biggest concern is what he's going to wear when he meets the casting director. Later, the tensions rise yet again between Chet and Katelynn when Chet asks about her medical stents.

Baya and Sarah check out a free dance class that is being offered in Manhattan. It doesn't take long for Sarah to step out of the class feeling overwhelmed as Baya continues to shine as a talented dancer. Later, Chet runs around the house polling people in what he should wear to his big audition with an MTV casting director. Once arriving at the MTV headquarters in Times Square, Chet becomes humbled by finally arriving at somewhere he's always dreamed of.

At the audition, Chet becomes flustered in front of the camera and asks the casting director if it's cool to step out for some "chapstick." Luckily, he returns to the studio to nail the audition. Meanwhile, Devyn and Sarah get some work by modeling dresses for clients. Sarah immediately realizes she feels very uncomfortable doing this, but notices Devyn is very natural. That night, the roommates gathered to support Katelynn at a launch party for her new gender identity project website. Back at the house, Chet and Katelynn finally have a serious and civil conversation about why Katelynn went through with the operation.
