Jon Stewart Taking Extended Break From 'Daily Show' to Make Directorial Debut
March 06, 2013 10:03:53Jon Stewart is going to take a 12-week hiatus from "The Daily Show" this summer to make his directorial debut. The political satirist is set to direct "Rosewater", a movie he wrote based on BBC journalist Maziar Bahari's memoir "Then They Came for Me: A Family's Story of Love, Captivity and Survival".
Stewart's extended hiatus, which will start in June, includes eight weeks during which the show produces new episodes. Though so, "The Daily Show" will remain airing new episodes during those eight weeks with correspondent John Oliver filling Stewart's shoes as the host.

July 26, 2012 02:07:16Comedy Central has extended its contracts with its two staple late-night show hosts, Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert. Both comedians have signed new deals that will keep them on the network for two more years.
With the contract renewal, Stewart is bound to serve as executive producer, writer and host of "The Daily Show With Jon Stewart" through the middle of 2015. Meanwhile, Colbert will continue executive producing, writing for and hosting "The Colbert Report" until the end of 2014.

Jon Stewart mocked the anchor who persistently delivered the news despite the emergency announcements and told the viewers at home, "You'll forgive us, we have a fire alarm going off here in the studio."
"No I will not forgive you," Stewart commented after a clip of the incident from "Nightly News" was played on his satirical news program. "I do not tune in to the number one national newscast to have my current events interrupted with technical hijinks," he added before mocking Williams' reaction.

Robert Pattinson Confirmed for 'Daily Show' Appearance
February 26, 2010 03:02:45Robert Pattinson will sit down for a talk with a Stewart, but not the one people would expect. The "The Twilight Saga's New Moon" is confirmed to visit "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart" on Tuesday, March 2, the same day he would do "The View" with Emilie de Ravin.
The booking has been confirmed by a representative for the show to Gossip Cop. The appearance on the talk show is part of his marathon in promoting "Remember Me", a drama which sees him as a troubled teenager and will hit theaters in U.S. on March 12.
