The two comedians are reportedly among several names considered to replace Jon Stewart before Trevor Noah nabbed the job.

AceShowbiz - Comedy Central was apparently eying a female comedian when it was looking for Jon Stewart's replacement for "The Daily Show". According to New York Times, Amy Poehler was among several higher-profile individuals considered for the gig.

The network reportedly made a call to the former "Parks and Recreation" star, though they were not hoping too much she would say yes. A source with knowledge of the exchange says, "They were pretty much expecting her to say no, and it was the quickest no in history."

Another ex-"Saturday Night Live" cast member, Chris Rock, was said being in the mix as well. The actor reportedly was interested, but he only wanted to sign on until the 2016 presidential election. The network apparently was against a short stint.

Trevor Noah eventually nabbed the coveted job. There were reports that Louis C.K. and Amy Schumer were wanted to fill in Stewart's shoes, but the network claimed Noah was the only potential host to receive a formal offer.

Stewart will bow out of "The Daily Show" hosting gig on August 6.
