Coldplay are hit by lawsuit after a man named Sammie Lee Smith, who has taken legal action, claimed that the group's tracks 'Yellow', 'Clocks' and 'Trouble' were stolen from him.

Rockers Coldplay are facing legal action from a man who alleges he wrote three of the band's hit songs. Sammie Lee Smith claims he is responsible for composing the group's tracks "Yellow", "Clocks" and "Trouble", according to a lawsuit filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court on Wednesday, January 13.

Smith alleges the songs were stolen from him - and he wants Chris Martin's band to stop playing them, reports TMZ.com. The unknown songwriter is also demanding unspecified financial compensation.

Coldplay previously faced a copyright infringement lawsuit from guitar great Joe Satriani, who accused the Brits of stealing "substantial" segments of his song "If I Could Fly". The rockers, who denied any wrongdoing, settled the case in September 2009.

Coldplay's latest album called "Viva la Vida" was released on June 17, 2008. The band is set to out their fifth studio album sometime in 2010. They have been recording the record since April 2009.
