AceShowbiz - Robert De Niro's daughter has seemingly confirmed her son's cause of death amid drugs overdose rumors. Three days after the tragic passing of Leandro De Niro Rodriguez at age 19, his mother Drena De Niro revealed that her son took "fentanyl laced pills."

On Wednesday, July 5, the 51-year-old actress responded to an Instagram user who asked how her Leandro passed away. In the comments section, she replied, "Someone sold him fentanyl laced pills that they knew were laced yet still sold them to him."

Seemingly fuming at a drug dealer who sold her son the pills knowingly they were laced with fentanyl, Drena added, "so for all these people still f**king around selling and buying this s**t, my son is gone forever."

Drena De Niro revealed son Leandro's cause of death.

"Fentanyl is a potent synthetic opioid drug approved by the Food and Drug Administration for use of pain relief and anesthetic," according to the Drug Enforcement Administration. The drug is approximately 100 times more potent than morphine and 50 times more potent than heroin as an analgesic. "Just two milligrams of fentanyl, the small amount that fits on the tip of a pencil, is considered a potentially deadly dose," the DEA states.

Drena broke the sad news of her son's passing on Sunday, July 2. She wrote on Instagram at the time, "My beautiful sweet angel. I have loved you beyond words or description from the moment I felt you in my belly. You have been my joy my heart and all that was ever pure and real in my life. I wish I was with you right now. I wish I was with you. I don’t know how to live without you."

Leandro was found lifeless at a $950,000, one-bedroom apartment in the Cipriani Club Residences on Wall Street. The teen's official cause of death has not yet been disclosed, but it is being investigated as a possible drugs overdose. It was reported that he was found sitting on a chair with a white powdery substance on a plate near his body.

On Wednesday, Drena once again paid tribute to her late son by remembering "summertime" with him. She shared a throwback photo of them splashing in the sea together when he was a youngster. "Where it's always Summertime," she captioned the image along with praying hands, a heart and sea emojis.
