Jason Momoa, Amber Heard and Patrick Wilson join James Wan in a table read as captured in the photo shared by the director.

AceShowbiz - Although "Aquaman" won't start production until this spring in Australia, it doesn't stop the cast and crew from having a mini gathering. James Wan, the director of the movie, teases fans with the very first photo of "Aquaman" cast assembling for a table read.

Jason Momoa, Amber Heard and Patrick Wilson were featured in the photo Wan shared on his Twitter account on Tuesday, January 24. Along with the photo, Wan wrote, "After school detention with the new Breakfast Club. With @PrideofGypsies @patrickwilson73 and Amber. #tableread."

Momoa will reprise his role as the titular hero following his debut in "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice". Heard will portray Mera, the Queen of the sea who is also Aquaman's longtime love. Meanwhile, Wilson will play the villainous Orm the Oceanmaster.

Wan has promised a "swashbuckling action" in the upcoming movie. He told Entertainment Tonight, "I kind of don't want to give too much away but know this: The spirit that I'm going for is like a classic sort of swashbuckling action adventure, sort of high seas adventure story." Wan continued, "It's ultimately a quest story in the spirit of 'Raiders of the Lost Ark' meets 'Romancing the Stone'." However, the plot is still kept under wraps.

The film also stars Willem Dafoe as Nuidis Vulko. Will Beall, Geoff Johns, Paul Norris and Mort Weisinger pen the script. Meanwhile, Deborah Snyder and Zack Snyder will produce the movie with Rob Cowan serving as exec producer. The King of Atlantis standalone movie is set for an October 5, 2018 release in U.S. theaters. Prior to this, Aquaman is set to swim further into theaters for "Justice League" in November 17.
