British singer Louis Tomlinson is the latest One Direction member to make solo appearance on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon". Joined by Steve Aoki, Tomlinson performed their collaborative single "Just Hold On" for the first time on U.S. television on Tuesday, January 24.

"Making their U.S. TV debut performing 'Just Hold On', give it up for Steve Aoki and Louis Tomlinson," Fallon welcomed his musical guests. Tomlinson looked charming in a striped jacket paired with a black T-shirt and skinny jeans. He was jumping along to the EDM track, while Aoki was seen busy playing some electronic instruments.

Tomlinson and Aoki have been on media tour promoting "Just Hold On" in the States over the last week. In a recent interview on "On Air with Ryan Seacrest", the British singer revealed that the song was originally written as a fight song for everyday life struggles. "When we wrote the song, it was more about any kind of hardship in life you might have to struggle with," he said.

However, the timing of his mom's death made the song a personal tribute piece for him. "That wasn't the intention deliberately. It's kind of saying don't feel sorry for yourself; keep fighting, keep strong. So those two kind of fell into place and that obviously made the performance more personal for me," he said.

The 25-year-old singer added that the song was "hard to sing," but his mom pushed him to perform before she passed away. He said, "I was motivated by my mom and I had a conversation with her, and I said I wasn't sure I would be able to do it. She said I had to do it." The song was debuted on the U.K.'s "The X Factor", a day after his mom's death due to leukemia at the age of 43.
