Sony-based TriStar Pictures is teaming up with The Mark Gordon Company, The C.S. Lewis Company and Entertainment One to bring 'The Silver Chair' to big screen.

AceShowbiz - "The Chronicles of Narnia" is coming back to big screen with a new movie. According to Deadline, Sony-based TriStar Pictures is teaming up with The Mark Gordon Company, The C.S. Lewis Company and Entertainment One to make "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Silver Chair". It's unclear if the cast members from the previous films will return.

Mark Gordon says in a statement, "Developing this project with The C.S. Lewis Company has been immensely exciting and a real joy. We are so pleased to team up with our good friends at TriStar and our partners at eOne to introduce this new, magical chapter of the Narnia franchise to fans around the world, both old and new."

The upcoming film is based on the fourth published novel in C.S. Lewis' classic series. "Life of Pi" scribe David Magee is penning the screenplay. Nicole Brown will oversee the project for TriStar with Minghella, with Sara Smith overseeing the project for The Mark Gordon Company. Gordon produces the film with Vincent Sieber, Melvin Adams and Lewis' stepson Douglas Gresham.

The project becomes the second live-action iteration of the classic novels. The first "Narnia" film, "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe", was released in 2005, followed by "The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian" in 2008 and "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader" in 2010. Those three films have grossed $1.6 billion at the global box office.

"The Silver Chair" picks up decades after "The Voyage of the Dawn Treader" in Narnia but less than a year later in England. The film centers on The King Caspian X, now an old man, who enlists Aslan the lion to help find his missing son. Aslan sends two children from an English boarding school, Eustace Scrubb and Jill Pole, to track down the prince and solve the mystery.
