Films Considered for the Makeup Oscar
January 11, 2006 02:01:55There are 7 films considered for Achievement in Makeup for the 78th Academy Awards. As announced by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, the films include "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe", "Cinderella Man", "A History of Violence", "The Libertine", "Mrs. Henderson Presents", "The New World", and "Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith."
Thus, to pick up only three of those for Oscar consideration, ten-minute clip reels from each of the seven films will be screened for the Makeup Award Nominating Committee on Saturday, January 28. The selected films will be announced along with nominations in 23 other categories on Tuesday, January 31, at 5:30 a.m. PST.

The Sequel of "Narnia" Is on the Way
January 06, 2006 02:01:39Following the success of "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe," Walden Media, which produced the Disney release flick, reportedly is preparing for the sequel.
To bring the project into life, director Andrew Adamson and the four children - Georgie Henley, Skandar Keynes, William Moseley and Anna Popplewell - have signed on again for the highly anticipated "The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian."

Separated by only $1.2 million, Buena Vista's "Narnia" satisfyingly nudged out Universal's "King Kong" with an estimated income of $32.8 million it has collected from Friday to Monday earnings.
Sitting on number three, "Fun With Dick and Jane" scored with $21 million, followed in order by "Cheaper by the Dozen 2", "Rumor Has It", "The Family Stone", "Memoirs of a Geisha", "The Ringer", "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire", and "Munich."

Narnia to be Chronicled in China
December 23, 2005 11:12:37China, the country known for its typical limit on foreign film releases to about a dozen each year, finally approved the release of Disney's hit fantasy film "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe" in its local theater in spring 2006.
The Walt Disney Co said on Thursday that the Chinese government has approved the release of the flick, which is expected to score great ticket sales as that it did earlier this month in US and international markets with $200 million in global ticket sales.

December 12, 2005 11:12:04Taking in $67 million from its ticket sales, the new release adventure fantasy "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe" successfully wins the top position on the box office for the period of December 9 -11. With such attainment, the film based on the popular children's books by C.S. Lewis has become the second-biggest debut ever in a weekend in December.
Winning the 2nd position is "Syriana," an oil-and-politics thriller, scoring $12 million. No. 3 is "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" with $10.3 million, one place ahead of "Walk the Line" at 4th with $77 million, surpassing "Yours, Mine and Ours" at 5th with $5.2 million. Narnia Comes to London
September 23, 2005 09:09:06Andrew Adamson direction, "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe," is set to have its world premiere at London's Royal Albert Hall on December 7. Britain's Prince Charles and his wife, the Duchess of Cornwall, are among the attendances, organizers said Thursday.
The film, which is based on the first of the seven books written by C.S. Lewis set in the fantastical world of Narnia, follows the exploits of the four Pevensie siblings; Lucy, Edmund, Susan and Peter - in World War II England who enter the world of Narnia through a magical wardrobe while playing a game of 'hide-and-seek' in the rural country home of an elderly professor. Once there, the children discover a charming, peaceful land inhabited by talking beasts, dwarfs, fauns, centaurs and giants that has become a world cursed to eternal winter by the evil White Witch, Jadis. Under the guidance of a nobel and mystical ruler, the lion Aslan, the children fight to overcome the White Witch's powerful hold over Narnia in a spectacular, climactic battle that will free Narnia from Jadis' icy spell forever.
