'Narnia 3' Is a Whole New Franchise
August 25, 2009 02:08:15After "The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian" failure to meet expectations, filmmakers will take different direction for "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader". The producer of the third installment of the adventure movies, Mark Johnson, recently told Coming Soon, "It's a whole new franchise, I think it's really benefiting from it. It's a slightly different look."
Explaining how "Narnia 3" will be different from the other two movies, Johnson said this "Narnia" film has similarity with Ray Harryhausen's 1958 film "The Seventh Voyage of Sinbad". "This one is different from the others, it's in that ['The Seventh Voyage of Sinbad'] league and they go from island to island having adventures. I'm very excited about it," he noted.

'Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader' Gets December 2010 Date
March 03, 2009 03:03:30"The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader" will indeed be among 2010 winter movies. Clarifying the circulating speculation about the film's possible Christmas release, 20th Century Fox and Walden Media announced that they have set the third "Narnia" film to arrive in U.S. theaters on December 10, 2010.
With the December date set, speculation is brewing that this third film is bumped to the particular date because the studios feel "Narnia" franchise is a winter material. The speculation came up seeing that "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe", which was released in December 2005, grossed $291.7 million domestically, while its summer release sequel, "The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian", raked in only $141.2 million.

'Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader' Gets Writer in Michael Petroni
February 27, 2009 03:02:10"The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader" is moving full steam ahead with the tapping of Michael Petroni. The screenwriter has been picked up to pen the next installment of "Narnia" series and to take over Richard LaGravanese, who wrote the recent draft for the C.S. Lewis novel's adaptation.
Reportedly, Petroni was chosen for the job because Fox 2000 were impressed with his works for the studio, a rewrite of the Kevin Lima-directed "Afterlife" and of the Julia Roberts-starrer "Daniel Isn't Talking". Joining "Dawn Treader" team, he will be re-teamed with Mark Johnson for whom he adapted the Australian novel "The Long Green Shore".

Third 'The Chronicles of Narnia' Picked Up by Fox
January 29, 2009 01:01:38The 20th Century Fox have stepped in to co-finance "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader", Variety reported. The news came out weeks after Disney walked away from their partnership with Walden Media in co-financing and co-producing the third installment of the "Chronicles of Narnia" series.
Fox has been said to be the most likely partner since the studio have marketed and distributed Walden movies under its Fox Walden label. Furthermore, it is noted that both Fox and Walden, which will split the film's production and P&A costs, are still working out the approval of final script as well as the shooting budget, which are reportedly much lower than the $225 million budget of "The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian".

No Third 'Narnia' Movie for Disney
December 24, 2008 04:12:21"The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader" has faced an upsetting news before it even begins filming. On Tuesday, December 23, both Walt Disney Pictures and Walden Media have confirmed that the third "Narnia" movie will have to move on without the mouse house supporting its production.
Choosing not exercising its option to co-produce and co-finance the sequel to "The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian", the studio pointed out on budgetary and logistical reasons. Still, they do not elaborate more on those reasons. Due to Disney's exit, Walden reportedly will look for other partner, which most likely candidate for the moment is said to be the 20th Century Fox.

'Narnia: Dawn Treader' Sails to Mexico
July 03, 2008 03:07:10The first two "Narnia" movies have been largely filmed in New Zealand due to government tax incentives. Thus, it is most likely that the third film would be getting the same shooting location. But, that is not the case with "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader".
Giving update to the film succeeding "The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian", producers revealed that the production of the Walden Media's flick will be moved to Rosarito, Mexico with the set-up shop at Baja Studios. On the moving of the filming base, producers reasoned that the third adaptation movie of C.S. Lewis' novel series will be needing several large sound stages and a massive water tank, and they will get that by using Baja, the studio where "Titanic", "Deep Blue Sea" and "Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World".

April 21, 2008 04:04:06Though "The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian", the sequel to hit film "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe", has yet to be released in the theaters, producers of the adventure fantasy movie has begun scheduling for the production of the third film. Speaking at the New York Comic Con on April 19, producer Mark Johnson revealed that "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader" is now scheduled to start filming in October 2008.
Aside from letting out the shooting plan, Johnson also stated that director Michael Apted is looking for filming locations in New Zealand. He further said that though Apted is eyeing the Kiwi island, it is not impossible that the principal photography maybe taken in other locations. Additionally, Johnson confessed that two-third of the movie's filming is going to be done in Rosarito, Mexico at a huge water tank once used by James Cameron to shoot "Titanic" and Peter Weir to shoot "Master and Commander".
