The 'Straight Outta Compton' star will step into the shoes of Kiefer Sutherland's Jack Bauer in the potential new series.

AceShowbiz - "24: Legacy" has found Kiefer Sutherland's replacement. Corey Hawkins, who has a recurring role on "The Walking Dead" season 6, will play the new lead in the reboot, stepping into Jack Bauer's shoes.

Hawkins, who is also known for playing Dr. Dre in N.W.A's biopic "Straight Outta Compton", will portray Eric Carter, a man with a troubled past who turned his life around in the Army Rangers, becoming a military hero. After settling with his wife Nicole in Virginia, Carter's past comes back to haunt him and he's pulled back into action. He eventually asks CTU for help saving his life and stopping what potentially could be one of the largest-scale terror attacks on American soil.

Fox Television Group Chairman and CEO Dana Walden said at the TCA winter press tour earlier this month that there's also "a female co-lead who is a former head of CTU." She also shared, "There's a time jump. This is a new organization. It's a new CTU, a new cast of characters. It's a completely different stories in terms of this special ops group we're focusing on. It's a very contemporary story about the potential to activate sleeper cells in the United States and radicalize Americans. There are nods in the pilot to prior CTU agents. There are a couple photos that will feel reminiscent of the original but no ongoing characters."

Manny Coto and Evan Katz will pen the script and serve as executive producers along with Teakwood Lane's Howard Gordon, Imagine TV's Brian Grazer and Kiefer Sutherland. Stephen Hopkins will direct the pilot.
