A newly-surfaced rumor hints that two original characters and one new character will join the Guardians team in the sequel to 'Guardians of the Galaxy'.

AceShowbiz - Following rumors that Ego the Living Planet will be the villain in "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2", another character report surfaces. The new report suggests that three characters, two of which have already been established, will join Star-Lord and his team in the upcoming film.

According to Geek.com, Mantis, along with original characters Yondu and Nebula, will join the Guardians team. It's believed that Michael Rooker and Karen Gillan will reprise their roles as Yondu and Nebula respectively. Meanwhile, Mantis is rumored to be played by already-confirmed cast member Pom Klementieff.

In "Guardians of the Galaxy", Yondu was hired by Peter Quill's (Chris Pratt) father to take the boy from Earth when he was young. However, Yondu never delivered him to his mysterious father. Instead, the red-finned mohawk kept Peter and raised him as part of his Ravangers crew, so it makes sense if the two will team up to work together in the second movie.

Another character that may join the Guardians is Mantis. In the comic books, she served as the team's counselor for several years. She is a skilled fighter who possesses telepathic powers, making her useful for the team.

The last one to join the Guardians is Nebula. She is the sister of Gamora (Zoe Saldana), whom she fought against in the first film. While people understand that the two don't get along quite well, there is one possibility that makes her end up joining the team. Nebula and the Guardians may share a common enemy, making the former have no choice but to join forces with the team.

Joining Pratt in the cast are Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel and Bradley Cooper, who will reprise their roles as Drax the Destroyer, Groot and Rocket Raccoon respectively. Directed by James Gunn, "Guardians 2" will be released in the U.S. on May 5.
