AceShowbiz - The 2015 American Music Awards has officially started. Host and performer Jennifer Lopez kicked off the event with a slowed-down rendition of her "Waiting for Tonight". The ageless diva, who's promoting her upcoming Las Vegas residency, also danced to a medley of some of today's biggest hits, including Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars' "Uptown Funk" and Nicki Minaj's "Anaconda".

Afterwards, Prince took the stage to announce the first AMA winner that night. The iconic singer presented the Favorite Album - Soul/R&B Award to The Weeknd for his chart-topping latest album, "Beauty Behind the Madness".

Soon, One Direction joined the "Can't Feel My Face" hitmaker on the winners list. Following sets by 5 Seconds of Summer, who energetically played "Hey Everybody!", and Selena Gomez, who pleased viewers with a sultry performance of "Same Old Love", Nicki Minaj handed the British/Irish boyband the Favorite Duo/Group - Pop/Rock trophy.

The 2015 American Music Awards is airing live on ABC from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. More winners will be announced as the show unfolds.
