AceShowbiz - Benedict Cumberbatch lends his voice to help Syrian refugees. The Oscar-nominated actor pleads for help in a video, urging fans to donate for the cause. He quotes a poem called "Home" by Somali-born writer Warsan Shire who now lives in London.
"No one leaves home unless home is the mouth of a shark. You only run for the border when you see the whole city running as well," he says. "You have to understand that no one puts their children in a boat unless the water is safer than the land."
"We see you. We hear you. Help Is coming," the actor concludes from his dressing room at the Barbican Centre in London, where he's starring in the play "Hamlet".
His speech coincides with the re-release of Crowded House's 1999 single "Help Is Coming". The proceeds will benefit to Save the Children.
