The 24-year-old actor takes to his X account to confirm his departure from the ABC soap opera, sparking speculation about the fate of his character Spencer Cassadine.

AceShowbiz - Nicholas Alexander Chavez, the 24-year-old actor who portrayed Spencer Cassadine on "General Hospital", has announced his departure from the show after a successful run. He confirmed his exit in a statement shared on X (formerly Twitter).

In his post, the actor expressed his gratitude for the opportunity that GH had given him. He acknowledged the support of talented producers, writers, directors, and fellow actors, including Frank Valentini, the show's executive producer.

Chavez's exit was the result of extensive conversations with Valentini regarding his future on the soap. While there are currently no plans for his return, the actor and producers are open to future possibilities for Spencer in Port Charles.

Chavez took a temporary leave of absence last summer to film the second installment of Ryan Murphy's anthology series Monster. Scheduled to premiere on Netflix this year, Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menéndez Story will feature Chavez as Lyle Menendez, one of the brothers convicted of murdering their parents.

Chavez's casting in Monster sparked speculation about his long-term plans with General Hospital. Rumors of his permanent departure intensified when his name disappeared from the show's closing credits in late March. His on-screen departure in January saw Spencer and his ex-girlfriend Esme presumed dead after falling into the Seine River.

Chavez's departure has been a hot topic among fans, who have expressed their support and appreciation for his portrayal of Spencer. Known for his charismatic performance, Chavez won a Daytime Emmy in 2022 for Outstanding Younger Performer in a Drama Series. He received another nomination in 2023 for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Daytime Drama Series.

The future of Spencer's character remains uncertain. General Hospital has not announced any recasting plans, but the show's producers have left room for the possibility of his return in the future.
