'Supergirl' Casts 'Salem' Actor as Dr. T.O. Morrow and Red Tornado

Iddo Goldberg will play both characters on the CBS series, while in the comics Morrow and Red Tornado are two different characters with contradictory personalities.

AceShowbiz - "Supergirl" has tapped Iddo Goldberg to slip into Red Tornado's mantle. The actor, who is currently starring on WGN America's "Salem", will play Dr. T.O. Morrow a.k.a. the Red Tornado, but there's a twist.

According to ComicBook.com which first reported the news, "Red Tornado is the most advanced android the world has ever seen. Designed by scientist T.O. Morrow for the U.S. Army as the ultimate superweapon, he soon becomes sentient, posing a grave danger to National City -- including the people Supergirl cares about most."

However, in the comic books Dr. T.O. Morrow and Red Tornado are two different persons. In the original DC tale, Morrow is just the android's inventor. Moreover, the two have different personalities. While Morrow is evil, Red Tornado is a hero and a longtime member of Justice League.

It's unclear how Goldberg will play both characters, but it seems that Red Tornado will be depicted as a villain on the TV adaptation. Executive producer Greg Berlanti tells Variety that Red Tornado "has an affiliation with General Lane," the father of Lois and Lucy Lane (Jenna Dewan-Tatum), who is also expected to appear on the show but is yet to be cast.

Centering on Superman's cousin Kara Zor-El (Melissa Benoist), who also lands on Earth after escaping Krypton, "Supergirl" will also feature Reactron (Chris Browning), Maxwell Lord (Peter Facinelli) and Kryptonian villain Non. It is set to debut Monday, October 26 at 8:30 P.M. on CBS, before airing in its regular slot beginning Monday, November 2 at 8 P.M.
