'Homeland' Season 5 Full Trailer: The Past Catches Up With Carrie
TV

Carrie is seen embracing her role as a mother, getting a new job in Germany and finding herself in danger once again.

AceShowbiz - Showtime has released the first full trailer of "Homeland" season 5. Giving a look at Carrie's (Claire Danes) new life with her boyfriend Jonas Happich (Alexander Fehling) and her daughter in Germany where she works for a private security firm, it soon turns intense as Saul is alerted about a data breach in Berlin.

Carrie somehow finds herself entangled in the national security issue and Saul (Mandy Patinkin) enlists Quinn (Rupert Friend) for an assassination mission. There's a glimpse of Carrie getting kidnapped. She's also seen aiming to shoot someone, but gets shocked probably because the target is someone she knows, before she gets abducted again.

"Maybe I knew someday the past will catch up with me," Carrie says, and as the tagline in the video says, "the only way out is back in."

Showtime boss David Nevins previously said that the fifth season was partly inspired by the real-life events surrounding Edward Snowden. Showrunner Alex Gansa further detailed, "This story is current. With all of the stuff that's going on just south of Berlin in the Middle East and to the east in Russia and Ukraine, it's fascinating."

"Carrie is out of the intelligence business when the season starts, and she finds herself in Berlin," he continued. "It's a center for dissidence. That's where hacktivists go because German privacy laws are so strict. It's hard to have surveillance on people there."

Also starring Sebastian Koch, Miranda Otto, Sarah Sokolovic, Mark Ivanir and Micah Hauptman in new roles, the new season of the drama thriller is set to premiere Sunday, October 4 at 9 P.M. ET/PT on Showtime.
