On his show, Fallon explains his serious hand injury, saying that he almost had it amputated and he had to stay in the ICU for 10 days after a six-hour surgery.

AceShowbiz - Jimmy Fallon is back at work after a two-week absence due to his hand injury. The funnyman returned to host "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" on Monday night, July 13 and took a time to explain how serious his injury was.

He recalled the accident on June 26, saying that he tripped and fell in his kitchen on a braided rug that "my wife loves and I can't wait to burn to the ground." At first, he thought he broke his finger, but after arriving at a New York hospital, he was told that he suffered "ring avulsion," when "my ring got caught on the counter top... and pulled my finger off."

He had to undergo emergency surgery which lasted for six hours, during which doctors took a vein out of his foot and reconnected it to his finger's tissue. He's thankful the doctors were able to "save my finger," but he noted, "I won't get feeling back for eight weeks."

He added that he had to stay in the ICU for 10 days. During that time, he said he had somewhat of an existential crisis and read "Man's Search for Meaning". Thanking the doctors and nurses who helped him recover, he still saw the bright side of the accident as saying, "I should say, the fall was funny. I'm a comedian so I have to fall funny."

Later in the same episode, Fallon played a new game called "Drinko" with his guest Paul Rudd. In the game, the host and the "Ant-Man" actor took turns dropping discs into random cups filled with beer, gravy and more, which the other contestant had to drink, in a Plinko-like game. In the end, Rudd won, so Fallon had to drink an awful mix of gravy and tequila.
