Words are, executives at E! network have named Joan Rivers' daughter, Melissa, as the new host of the talk show.

AceShowbiz - E! network may have found the new "Fashion Police" host to complete its panel. Melissa Rivers reportedly will take over the role once assumed by her late mother Joan Rivers when the show resumes taping on August 31.

"Melissa's going on," a source tells Confidenti@l. "She is so happy, she is excited. The idea actually came from her. The bosses like it. It'll be a tribute to her mom, and Melissa's the one who understands how it's done. She can pull it off."

According to multiple sources, Melissa has signed on for six episodes, but it's unknown when they will air. A so-called pal of the 47-year-old also tells Naughty Gossip, "Melissa is saying that she is going to host the show. No-one understands the show more than she does and this is what her mother would want."

Sharing more details of the revamped show, the source says the panel will feature a rotating crew of celebrities from L.A. and New York and the show will "get a fresh look, with an updated set." The source adds, "They will rotate celebs every episode. They are talking to Wendy Williams and they really want her. Melissa loves her and Wendy is very interested."

"Fashion Police" has been put on hiatus after Kathy Griffin, who was tapped to replace Joan, departed the show in March after only a few months. She explained on Twitter at the time, "I thought I could bring my brand of humor to Fashion Police so that beautiful people in beautiful dresses could be teased when appropriate."

"I do not want to use my comedy to contribute to a culture of unattainable perfectionism and intolerance towards difference," she went on reasoning. "My brand of humor, while unrepentant and unafraid, is all about CONTEXT. There's plenty to make fun of in pop culture without bringing people's bodies into it."

Earlier this year, Kelly Osbourne who had been on the show for five years also quit following Giuliana Rancic's controversial comment about Zendaya Coleman's dreadlocks at this year's Oscars.
