Scarlett Johansson Eyed for 'Creature From the Black Lagoon' Remake

The Black Widow depicter is courted to play a lead role in a remake that will be a part of Universal's bigger Monsters universe.

AceShowbiz - Scarlett Johansson is pursued to lead "Creature from the Black Lagoon" remake. According to a scoop from Tracking Board, the actress is Universal's top choice to play the key character in the revamped version of Jack Arnold's horror classic.

The original movie starring Julia Adams was released in 1954 in 3D. It revolves around a group of scientists who discovers a dangerous pre-historic creature that is part human and part fish while they are on an expedition in the Amazon.

Universal has been in the process of reviving their Monsters properties and creating a shared universe for them. Screenwriters Alex Kurtzman ("Star Trek") and Chris Morgan ("Fast and Furious") are hired to head the crossover project.

Some of the classic monsters which are going to be brought to life include The Mummy, Frankenstein, The Wolfman, The Invisible Man, and Bride of Frankenstein. They will follow "Dracula Untold" starring Luke Evans last year.
