Middle Earth Ruler in 'Lord of the Rings' Joins 'Wolfman'
February 22, 2008 04:02:32The actor behind the voice of Megatron in "Transformers" Hugo Weaving is being reported to be cast by Universal Picture. According to Variety, the 47-year-old actor has just signed on to star in the upcoming horror thriller "The Wolfman".
The SAG Award-winning actor will be portraying Detective Aberline in the remake of 1941 film starring Lon Chaney Jr.. By agreeing to play in "Wolfman", he will be joining the cast that include Benicio Del Toro, Emily Blunt and Anthony Hopkins.

'Jurassic Park III' Helmer Officially Be 'The Wolfman' Director
February 04, 2008 03:02:48Rumors about the signing of the "Rush Hour" helmer Brett Ratner as the helmer of "The Wolfman" has been dished out. According to Variety, Universal Pictures has signed Joe Johnston, the director of "Jurassic Park III" to be Mark Romanek's replacer on Sunday, February 3.
By the signing of Johnston to the horror project, it is more likely that the film will be back on track and will start shooting in London in March. The film, which is said to be set in Victorian England, follows the story of a man who returns from America to his ancestral homeland and gets bitten by a werewolf.

Eisner last worked with Matthew McConaughey on Paramount Pictures' action film "Sahara" in 2005. He is currently working for a horror sci-fi "Creature from the Black Lagoon" for Universal. Meanwhile, Matt Reeves' latest projects include J.J. Abrams produced-monster film "Cloverfield". It was said that he will next tackle "Cloverfield 2" and "The Invisible Woman".

According to Variety, the helmer of "One Hour Photo" left the project due to budget dispute as well as creative differences.
The dropping out of Romanek wasn't Universal's first experience of losing their projects' key talents in a big-budget film. Earlier, the studio had lost two of "State of Play" leading cast as Brad Pitt and Edward Norton quit the project weeks before shooting begin. Still, they managed to salvage the crime drama film by hiring Russell Crowe and Ben Affleck.
