AceShowbiz - Kendrick Lamar's "To Pimp a Butterfly" is already a huge hit among Spotify users. The album, which unexpectedly arrived on Sunday night, March 15, has set a new record on the service as it was streamed more than 9.6 million times in its first 24 hours.

The CEO of Lamar's label Top Dawg Entertainment has expressed his excitement on Twitter. " 'To Pimp a Butterfly' was streamed 9.6m times on the 1st day. new global record 4 the most streams in a single day worldwide by a new release," he wrote.

According to Billboard, the same-day global record was previously held by Michael Buble with his "Christmas" set. The site additionally reported that with his new effort, Lamar earned about $44,160 in a single day globally.

"To Pimp a Butterfly" was originally slated to be released on March 23. The record, which also includes the Grammy-winning single "i", received rave reviews from music critics as well as from fellow big names in music.

Kanye West on Monday tweeted, "KENDRICK IS AN INSPIRATION. THANK YOU FOR THE VIBRATIONS AND THE SPIRIT. YOUR MEANING, MESSAGE AND EXECUTION ARE GIFTS TO THE WORLD." Mac Miller also praised the album, calling it "a masterpiece."
