The winners in documentary and foreign language categories have also been announced at the 86th annual Academy Awards.
"Gravity" picked up its first award at the 86th annual Academy Awards just before Karen O performed "Moon Song" from Best Picture nominee "Her". The 3D sci-fi space epic won Best Visual Effects which was presented by Emma Watson and Joseph Gordon-Levitt.
Best Documentary in Short Subject was given to "The Lady in Number 6: Music Saved My Life", Best Live Action Short Film was presented by Kate Hudson and Jason Sudeikis to "Helium", while "Twenty Feet from Stardom" was announced by Bradley Cooper as the winner of Best Documentary Feature.
Before proceeding with the next winners, Kevin Spacey helped the Academy run through the recipients of this year's Honorary Awards. Feted at the pre-Oscar Governors Awards were actress Angela Lansbury, actor/producer Steve Martin, and costume designer Piero Tosi, while Angelina Jolie accepted Humanitarian Award. "You can't imagine how happy and proud I feel. I'm underserving of this golden chap," Lansbury said in her video acceptance montage.
Ewan McGregor next appeared on stage. He presented Best Foreign Language Film to Italian flick "The Great Beauty".
