Alessandra Ambrosio reveals that she had a botched cosmetic procedure at a young age of 11. The model told Net-a-Porter that as a kid, she always wanted to be a model. Young Ambrosio, however, felt that her ears "stuck out a bit" and underwent a surgery to fix them.
"I always knew I wanted to be a model so I decided to have my ears pinned back, because they stuck out a bit," the 32-year-old model confessed. "I found this doctor in my hometown [of Erechim] in Brazil who had only done it once before, so I was a guinea pig. The first few nights, it felt like someone had cut off my ears."
In addition to the surgery, she had to undergo other procedures for a year. The experience scared her and she does not want to undergo other surgeries even to fix the botched one. "Doctors say they can fix them, but cosmetic surgery freaks me out now," she said.
The mother of two, who was engaged to businessman Jamie Mazur in 2007, also talked about losing baby weight after giving birth to her first child. "People kept telling me that I would bounce back straight away, but a week after giving birth I still had that balloon belly. It was the first time in my life that I had to diet," she said.
To lose 60 pounds she gained during her first pregnancy, Ambrosio worked out with a trainer six times a week and only eat 1,500 calories a day. "I [was] so excited one day because it said that I was going to have a hamburger. I was at a barbecue and when I opened up the burger box, the bun was as thick as a piece of lettuce. My friends laughed their heads off," she recalled.
