Former "America's Next Top Model" finalist Renee Alway is still in custody on Sunday, July 14, after she got arrested following a six-hour stand-off with the police in Palm Springs, California, on June 28. She was arrested for many charges including suspicion of burglary, fraud, possession of narcotics, forged bills and committing a felony while on bail.
According to a TMZ report, the police received a report of suspicious female lurking around a vacant house on June 28. Police officers who responded to the report allegedly found Alway hiding in the garage with a gun.
Police believed that there was an armed man in the building and called for back up from SWAT team. The SWAT team searched for hours, but they did not find anyone in the property. Alway later was taken into Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in Banning and the bail was set at $150,000. Her court appearance has been scheduled for next week.
The arrest was not the 27-year-old model's first run-in with the law. Palm Springs police Sgt Kyle Stjerne said that the arrest was her third time this year. On June 2, she was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, petty theft, and fraud. Alway pled not guilty and later was released on bail.
Alway was placed third on Cycle 8 of Tyra Banks' "America's Next Top Model". Cycle 20 of the modeling competition will start on August 20.
