'Psychopath are not a mistake of nature. They're a gift,' so says the neuropsychiatrist, whose arrival 'will change everything.'
Showtime takes viewers to have a close look at new character Dr. Evelyn Vogel in a new featurette for "Dexter" season 8. Portrayed by Charlotte Rampling, the character who earns the nickname "The Psychopath Whisperer" shares her point of view about serial killers.
"Psychopath are not a mistake of nature. They're a gift," she says in the video, which teases that her arrival "will change everything." For the titular character, "she's someone who is, from a storytelling standpoint, interesting to have come into Dexter's orbit," lead actor Michael C. Hall says.
Dr. Vogel is in Miami to help them solve a case, but Dexter is worried that he's the one whom she's looking after. "Fans, they're going to feel very bereaved at the end I think," Rampling hints at Dexter's fate.
The eighth and final season of "Dexter" will premiere Sunday, June 30, at 9 P.M. on Showtime. Other new faces added to the cast this season are Julian Sands as wealthy international businessman Miles Foster, Sean Patrick Flanery as Jacob Elroy who owns a private investigation company, and Nick Gomez as hitman Javier Guzman. Yvonne Strahovski will also reprise her role as Hannah McKay.
