ABC will reportedly recast the Mad Hatter because the original depicter, Sebastian Stan, is not available for multi-year commitment.

AceShowbiz - The Mad Hatter could get his own series after making appearance on "Once Upon a Time". Deadline reports that ABC is considering to spawn the fairytale drama series into a new show focusing on the famous character, which usually becomes part of Alice in Wonderland tale.

Words are, the Mad Hatter will return to "Once" later this season. However, another actor will step in the shoes of the eccentric character since the original depicter, Sebastian Stan, is not available for the potential multi-year commitment should the network move forward with the spin-off.

ABC is reportedly currently casting new actor for the role. Whoever chosen will be cast as guest star with a series option behind it.

The Mad Hatter first appeared on "Once" in a March 25 episode. While he may get a spin-off, some other characters on the show have been upped to regulars, such as Emilie de Ravin's Belle, Meghan Ory's Red Riding Hood and Colin O'Donoghue's Captain Hook.
