Teaming up with Paramount Pictures, Abrams' production banner Bad Robot acquires the spec script, which is written by Patrick Aison.

J.J. Abrams hasn't even finished working on the "Star Trek" sequel, but he has already nabbed a new movie project. On Monday, June 11, Paramount Pictures and Abrams' production banner Bad Robot announced that they have obtained the spec script of "Wunderkind", which is written by Patrick Aison.

"Wunderkind" itself is an action/thriller which is set in the 1970s against the backdrop of Cold War. The story revolves around a pair of Nazi hunters. One of them is a young CIA agent who investigates German war criminals, while the other one is an older man who serves for Israel's Mossad intelligence organization. Both of them later get intertwined and become unlikely partners.

The script has been shopped since May and it has been dubbed the "Bourne" films crossed with "The French Connection". Abrams will serve as the producer along with his Bad Robot partner, Bryan Burk. Since the project is still in the early phase, there are still no words on when the production will start.

Abrams' Bad Robot has extended its first-look deal with Paramount through December 2015. The two companies have teamed up to develop such movies as "Mission: Impossible 3", "Star Trek", "Cloverfield", "Super 8" and "Morning Glory". Abrams himself is currently finishing his untitled Star Trek sequel.
