Heidi Klum is making her split from Seal official. Nearly three months after announcing that she and her singer husband were putting an end to their nearly seven years of marriage, the 38-year-old supermodel has through her lawyer Laura Wasser filed her divorce petition at Los Angeles Superior Court.
In the documents submitted on Friday, April 6 afternoon, the "Project Runway" host cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split. She is also requesting primary physical custody of their four children, 7-year-old Leni, 6-year-old Henry, 5-year-old Johan and 2-year-old Lou, with visitation rights for 49-year-old Seal.
Klum additionally seeks to have her maiden name restored and asks the judge to reject any claim for spousal support by both parties. Her petition additionally uncovers that the former Victoria's Secret Angel and her estranged husband had a prenuptial agreement that allowed them to retain their separate assets and property.
Klum and Seal tied the knot in May 2005. They have three biological children together; two sons, Henry and Johan, and a daughter, Lou. Seal also adopted Klum's daughter from previous relationship, Leni. The twosome are famous for renewing their wedding vows on every anniversary. The pair announced their split in January 2012.
"While we have enjoyed seven very loving, loyal and happy years of marriage, after much soul searching we have decided to separate," the now-estranged couple said in their joint statement. "We have had the deepest respect for one another throughout our relationship and continue to love each other very much, but we have grown apart."
