TommyD and Jamie Scott are gearing up to share Graffiti6's refreshingly rule-free music in a first full-length effort, "Colours". In anticipation of the album release in the United States on January 24, Jamie exclusively shares to AceShowbiz about what inspires them in crafting their music. The singer/songwriter says that their lyrics are born out of their personal experiences.
Jamie also talks about the tour that precedes the album. They hit the road with Augustana and have kicked it off on January 17 in Anaheim, CA. Instead of talking at great length and spoiling any surprises they might have, he sums it up by assuring that it will be helluva fun. For a taste of how good their shows are, fans can watch their performance on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno".
ASB: First of all, congratulation for your album "Colours" for it will come out in the U.S. on Jan. 24. Are you excited?
Jamie: Very much so...can't wait. And thank you!
ASB: Please tell us what the concept of this album is.
Jamie: Well, I never really thought of it as concept, I'm not even really sure what that means. But it turned out to be a collaboration of 2 people and sound that mixed both of our influences and playing.
ASB: In writing your songs, what usually inspires you to pen lyrics?
Jamie: I would go as far as saying only personal experiences. Apart from a few songs i.e. "Goodbye Geoffrey Drake", it is much easier to write lyrics drawn from things that have happened to you.
ASB: Many of your songs are featured in popular shows. But if given a chance to make a soundtrack for any show or movie, what will you choose? Why?
Jamie: The remake of "Saturday Night Fever".....'cause I wanna be Tony Manero.
ASB: You have worked with many big stars before. If you are to name one that you want to reunite with? Who will it be and why?
Jamie: Alicia Keys or Ron Sexsmith 'cause they are both Genius.
ASB: We heard you're busy preparing for your tour right now. How are the rehearsals going so far?
Jamie: Really good....just can't wait to get on the gig.
ASB: What surprises do you prepare for your fans in this tour?
Jamie: Erm don't really know but I'm sure they are gonna like the show!
ASB: What is the ritual you usually do as a group before or after performing in concerts?
Jamie: Haven't got one but the amount of times I get asked that, I'm thinking of starting something.
ASB: Beside making music and performing, what are other things you guys enjoy doing?
Jamie: Love watching films and running.
ASB: Please leave message to your fans on AceShowbiz.
Jamie: Hey guys, I really hope you enjoy the album "Colours" and thank you so much for your support! Hopefully see you all very soon!
