The fourth installment of the "Spider-Man" series will undergo yet another rewrite with scribe Gary Ross coming on board. According to Variety, the director of "Pleasantville" and the screenwriter of "The Tale of Despereaux" has been hired to provide the latest rewrite for the draft of "Spider-Man 4".
With his appointing, he will take over the writing job from two previous screenwriters involved in the project, "Zodiac" writer James Vanderbilt and Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright David Lindsay-Abaire. His deal with the studio also places him to once again make a collaboration with "Spider-Man" lead actor Tobey Maguire, whom he directed in "Seabiscuit".
The fourth installment of "Spider-Man" series, "Spider-Man 4" has been reported to be shot back-to-back with "Spider-Man 5". It teams up once again director Sam Raimi and actor Tobey Maguire. Kirsten Dunst allegedly has been set to return as Mary Jane Watson. So far, the questions circulating the potential villains are yet to meet a satisfying answer. Produced by Avi Arad, Grant Curtis and Laura Ziskin, the superhero movie will be opened in U.S. theaters on May 6, 2011.

Dennis i completely agree Raimi should be ashamed of the mess he made by shoving Venom into the script late. The movie had an amazing plot with just sandman and harry. I do like the news Bruce Campbell is slated for a starring role(possible villan?)
Im hoping they put the Lizard in the 4th movie, but it sucks that Venom died in the 3rd movie. In all the Spiderman movies the villian dies. The only one who hasn't died is Sandman and it seemed that he turned good at the end of the wrd movie. I hope they dont kill the villian in Spiderman 4.
I can,t wait for spiderman 4. They might have lizard and carnage also black cat but there is another rumor that I am not happy about morphios being in it. I would want him to be in it if blade came along but I would prefer lizard and carnage and black cat. I guess if morphios is in it black cat will fall in love with him but if morphios isnt in it she could fall in love with spiderman and mary jane can go piss off.

yeah, ur right, it was just too much to keep up with. The first two movies had only one villain, but the third movie had so many and u had to keep up with their stories...they shouldn't have killed Harry though, he was badass, my nephews loved him.
As long as they make the 4th and 5th movies better than the 3rd...That one was absolutely horrible...I rank it right along with the Batman movie with George Clooney as Batman...The "New Goblin" was the dumbest idea ever, I mean, in the story, he becomes the Hobgoblin...Dont put soooo many villians in the 4th and 5th...The 3rd should have been an ongoing story with Oswald in a battle with himself...I know that they didn't know if they were gonna do a 4th or 5th at the time, but they could have still made the movie better with Spiderman taking on Sandman with the help of the symbiote, and later, a big duel with the Venom..Anyone with me on this????
