The possibility of reprising his role as the web-slinging superhero in "" and "Spider-Man 5" has been brought up a notch. Recently, Times Online reported that the actor has been working a deal with Sony Pictures for his term on coming back and shooting for the back-to-back movies.

According to the publication, Sony have agreed on one of the supposed clauses for the deal requesting that he is given the early mornings and evenings off to spend quality time with his 22-month-old daughter, Ruby Sweetheart. Times further noted that the "" star is most likely to be earning a whooping $50 million in salary and profit shares from the two films.

To the reporters in Century City, California, on June 5, the 48-year-old admitted that he is still waiting to read the James Vanderbilt's script for "Spider-Man 4" insisting that though he is excited with the new superhero project, he won't quickly decide on returning to helm the fourth flick before he gets to see what to offer. "Right now James Vanderbilt is writing the script, and he's working on it, and I'm excited to read it," he explained. "I think it's going to be done in a few months. I'm hoping it's as great as our discussions were about it and hoping it feels right for me, because I love Spider-Man, and I'm hoping I'm well-enough rested to, like, really embrace it and hoping that Sony wants me at that time to direct it. So if all those things come together, I would love, love to do it. But this is a lot of unknowns about the future."

Less than 48 hours after the speculation about the replacing of as Peter Parker/Spider-Man created media frenzy on the Internet, the rumor has been quickly toned down. On Thursday, May 28, Sony Pictures came out and threw water to the escalating fire stating that the reports about the recasting of Spider-Man role is a mere rumor.

The studio have sent an e-mail to Cinema Blend through which they denied any truth to the casting speculation. "The information is unsupported and not true," parts of the e-mail read. "This rumor is ridiculously untrue." Adding to the rumor dismissal, IESB reported that Steve Elzer, the head of Media Relations for Sony/Columbia Pictures claimed that the reports about the replacing of Maguire with Patrick Fugit is completely false. He also insisted that Maguire is still Spider-Man saying, "No one is being considered for the role but Tobey. Period."

Apparently, the hype surrounding "" has proven effective enough for Sony to finally decide to make the fourth. The third one previously received phenomenal reaction when footage of the flick was screened at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas several weeks ago.

Spider-man 3 was the worst movie I have ever seen. Sam Raimi should never be allowed to direct another movie. Not ever. Every sequel to this series will continue to suck more and more until it returns to Marvel and they get some good actors to restart the saga.
