The media have been reporting that Chad Michael Murray is a goner from "One Tree Hill" but apparently one more is leaving the show. His on-screen wife, Peyton, is not included in the next season's story and thus Hilarie Burton is also out from the picture.
The CW has confirmed the departures of the two actors to several media outlets, but no formal reason has been given. The characters got married on the Monday, May 11 episode but pregnant Peyton is wheeled to the ER on the next week's episode. Fans of the show will be able to watch Chad and Hilarie, who have been in the show for 6 years, for the last time on the season finale that airs May 18.
Additionally, The CW said that they will compensate the loss with two new characters, which details have not been elaborated further. Austin Nichols, who plays Julian, is also promoted as a regular.
The rumors of Chad and Hilarie leaving the show erupted for the first time in late February when Hilarie posted an emotional video message to fans, saying "...I wish I had creative control over the show, and I don't. But if I did, it would go on for a million years, and Peyton Sawyer would cry for you all the time - because she does that."
Few weeks later Chad, captured by a fan's video during autograph signing, said "They don't want me. I'm not joking" before then encouraging that fans "should do online, is start blogging and being pissed off that they don't want that." Although involved in a negotiation later on, Chad mentioned that the show wanted to save money.

Peyton and Lucas were the best they were the biggest part of the show I love Nathan, Haley, and Brooke but Peyton and Lucas was my favorite, they should have ended it in season 6 if they wern't going to have them back in it. i still watch the show hoping that they will guest star im seriously depressed though Peyton Sawyer is my all time favorite character of all time.
I watched OTH everyday when the show first came out. And chad was my favorite character because he is soo... hot and sweet. He is a wonderful actor. Chad made the show. I liked peyton but her character was a little to depressing but her characer portrayed a lot of real teenage feelings. the old episodes were more realistic. I hate when shows get rid of the main characters. i only watch OTH when im bored and there is nothing else to watch. We miss you chad and Hiliary you were the hearts of the show...
i dont fuckin care if that peyton charater is off coz i hate her.....but leave lucas so he can hook up again with brooke.....they really fit not peyton......fuck peyton.

I'm from england, and a huge one tree hill fan, i've watched it from the very beginning right up to the current series. It's my favourite series but i have to be honest it is losing alot of the things that made me love it, the show's best characters like lucas, peyton, karen, keith, whitey are gone. the original and the best characters i feel. along with this there is the absense of the theme tune by gavin degraw, 'i don't want to be' and the quotes from books that i loved to hear, mostly told by lucas, ;/ there was always a moral to the story. there was such good actors. now it feels there is drama for the sake of drama rather than real good acting and story. i'm really disappointed, i think now that if one tree hill ends up finishing it will be because mark schwahn killed his own program, as he became tight fisted and didn't appreciate who the real talent was behind the show. in all honesty the show would have been nothing without chad michael murray and hilarie burton to begin with. and i like many other farms tune in alot less now because of the choice to not have both characters back on the show.

Well everyone basically said what i was goin to say. I thinkn you get it. You guys are total JACKASSES for taking Hilarie and Chad out! They ARE Tree Hill. You cant go on without them. And also wat about Karen??? She was the wise one who helped everyone out. Im still gonna watch OTH for the rest of the cast that i love. But it will never be the same without a Peyton or Lucas. PUT THEM BACK IN! I sit there and watch OTH at least 20 episodes a day. ONce i get done with all the seasons, I start over. I've always wished I could have the perfect best friend as Lucas. I am a Huge fan of Chad and Hilarie and always been. Lucas was like the hero. I loved his voice overs and although I love other characters like Brooke and Jamie I won't be able to watch one tree hill without Luke!!! Chad you rocked!!! I wish Hilarie and Chad all the Best!!!

Okay as far as i am concerned they should have ended OTH after season 6. I refuse to even watch the 7th Season. The show is about brothers and basketball not only that i also aways felt that Lucas was the main character. So thank you idiots for ruining a good show by cutting the characters that helped make the show great, now it's just another hack show that nobody wants to watch. i have been watching this show FOREVER it seems and i loved it for so long and now i dont bother to watch it without chad and hilary, the story lines are pathetic and annoying, i want those two back... i won't watch the show again until that happens and if it doesn't happen then i see the last season ever made being season six.

Lucas and payton made one tree hill!All the characters are wonderful and I love them all but come on! one tree hill with no payton and lucas!WTF!!!Im a true fan of the show ive been watching it since it started but im really struggling to continue watching it without lucas and payton.we went through how many years for payton and lucas to be together and finally they are married and she makes it through having her baby and then yall just take them from us!!its just not the same!!I hate to stop watching i dont know im having a hard time. Hey guys, I know you are all mad. Getting rid of the most important characters is really STUPID but has it ever occur to you that maybe they are really trying to end the show? Hilarie Burton is the reason I watch the show but now that it's gone, I don't care anymore. Anyway, there are other shows to watch. Leverage is awesome! Smallville is coming back. Heroes is back and I just found out that Gossip Girl is cool too. Most of all, NBA will be back soon!

I started watching this show because Chad was in it. Now that he is not in the show anymore I am not going to be watching it. I will just watch the seasons that he is in on soapnet instead. I think that the brothers really made the show with help from Payton, Brook and Halley. I think that this a sad day in television. I guess I will just have to find another show on a different channel to fill in this time slot for me to watch. I hear Heros and House are really good shows.

Everyone I spoke to today said what a disappoint last nights season premiere was. To take Lucas and Peyton out of the picture after building their characters up so much on prior seasons is just the height of ludacracy. Want to save money?? Fire the exec who made that decision. You can bet this will probably be the end of OTH. The other characters (other than Sophia Bush) do not have the charisma to carry the show and even Sophia can't do it alone!!!
This has got to be the stupidest decision OTH has ever made!! The exec who made this decision should be fired!! I watched the season premiere last night and sorry but it sucked!!! Lucas and Nathan are the basis of the whole story line. It just goes to show how the top execs know how to ruin a money maker. i am from a far country way beyond the united states which is located in the south america(Guyana) and i must say one of the main reasons i use to look at one tree hill and continued doing so is because of Lucas...i sat down lastnite to look at the season premiere however it was not the same so i just had to turn my tv off...so whoever brillant idea dat was to write lucas and peyton off i must say they mite as well have written the whole show off becuz even tho change maybe a good thing sometimes...that was certainly not a good one and i'm sure lots of fans will agree with me..thank u very much!!

I have every single season of One Tree Hill and have watched the show through and through BECAUSE of Chad Michael Murray and Hilarie Burton's characters! They make up the show One Tree Hill and partly because of them, it has been my favourite show. This is possibly the worst thing that could happen to this show. I have no doubt in my mind that the show will go downhill from here, ultimately coming to an end and SOON. FML.
I enjoy watching all the characters of the show but I especially liked Lucas & Peyton. From season one eps.1 I was hooked just to see if they would end up together. I think the writers and producers killed the show with this move. I will not be tuning in everyweek anymore

The only reason I watch One Tree Hill is because of the characters Lucas and Peyton. This SUCKS! I cant believe the writers are taking the 2 MAIN characters off! The story is built around them. This happened to The OC whan they killed off Marissa and to That 70s Show when Eric AND Kelso left. Both those shows sucked afterward! Its just stupid to take the main characters away . Especially after the entire series is about how they love each other and NOW when they are acually together AND have a family they get pulled. WTF???

So ever since the beginning of this show it has been about Peyton and Lucas's struggle to be together. Even though they're married now shouldn't we as fans be entitled to know how little Sawyer grows up? And what about her parents? I for one will not continue with this series if they can't work something out to these two characters. The show has been built on them. As a fan, (as dumb as this may sound) I'm emotionally invested in these two. This sucks and this season is where it will end for me. At least I know that all the characters ended well with this season.

I am one of the OTH big fan in Thailand. I bought every season they sold in Thailand. Now, I missed the last 4 episodes of season 6 so I googled to see where could I find the remaining until I got into this blog. I don't want to believe that they killed Peyton and Lucas... The reason I watch this show is because all characters in this show are so damn perfect. I am heart broken when I found out that there is no longer Peyton and Lucas in the show !!!! This is freaking ridiculous! I will seriously stop watching the show if they take Peyton and Lucas off. While Hilarie Burton is not my favourite actress of all time, the relationship between Lucas and Peyton is the entire point of the show. I can guarantee that this show will go under after one season if they remove Lucas' and Peyton's characters. Mark my words!

I don't think that Hilarie or Chad should leave. They are the main characters. If they do not come back to the show people will stop watching it. i think that i will to because thats like the only reason why i even watch it. i am so disappointed that this the episode this coming Monday is the last we will see of the famous "Leyton". After, we all have shared so much with these characters. I personally feel very connected to them. When I see Lucas and Peyton together I know that how they feel is how I want to feel. I want to love and be loved like them and I will not settle for anything less. I don't know how long I can watch the 7th season, if I can even watch it at all without them. They are the greatest on screen couple! How else can anyone explain why no other couple can make me cry all the time?! I cry when they are happy, sad, angry, or whatever! They killed of 1 main character and look how badly they failed. Imagine if they would have killed off two. The show is based upon two brothers! TWO, not one! That is the shows description. There CANNOT BE one brother! WAKE UP CW!! The fans clearly want Lucas and Peyton to stay. As someone has already said, we make you all your money, so pay these actors what they deserve! We want Lucas and Peyton. Give us Lucas and Peyton and we will give you what you want- HIGH RATINGS! I cant' believe they are doing this Peyton and Lucas are mostly the reason why people watch One Tree Hill. I love Peyton and Lucas so much they are the reason why I personally watch the show. My sister does not know about them leaving she will cry so much because she love Peyton and Lucas. And OMG I'm crying right now. Please bring them back for season 7 or the show will suck with out them. I love you Peyton and Lucas
PS...on my last note..why not just give us 1 last season with ALL THE CHARACTERS and end the show in style that makes sense to the viewers like the show FRIENDS! They had a hit show lasting like 10 seasons, you'd think they want the same for ONE TREE HILL!!
SERIOUSLY...I HONESTLY can’t believe that the departure of 2 main characters makes CW and the BIG WIGS of the show in control think they will save money!! Have they not learned from the mistakes of other past HIT SHOWS falling in RATINGS like the OC simply because 1 main character left?! The show failed so bad after being so highly ranked that it was forced to end, but to give satisfaction to the viewers summed up the end of what could’ve been a successful longer run of aired shows! How is it that you’re going to let 2 main characters that MAKE the SHOW a HIT leave!? The main purpose of the show is LUCAS and his story! Are the writers, producers, and directors forgetting this BIG PIECE!! I think so! I have a lack of faith in the HOLLYWOOD area these days because they want US, “the fans”, to be emotionally involved and give them ratings only for them to yank our chain and dump it down the drain!! I mean come on….we make you your money by watching…why not GIVE the fans what they want. Make a smart decision by tapping in to the wallets, pay the actors what they want and deserve, and keep the show going for obvious reasons…its AMAZING…WITH ALL THE CHARACTERS!!! I GUARENTEE this show will fall next season like the rest if they go forward with this unremarkably stupid decision!!
from the 1st episode of that show and i wait 4 lucas & payton. wait 4 their union, marriage & baby. and now after all these years, all these seasons, all wt they 've been throw, writers decided to get ride of them?!!!!!! it really sucks and i don't see why i should watch this series again.:(

I can't believe that they are making this huge mistake! Lucas Scott is One Tree Hill--in the older episodes, who do you see bouncing his basketball on the bridge? LUCAS. As for Peyton, it makes absolutely no sense to cut her out of the show either, Lucas and Peyton make the perfect couple and they are the reason I watch the show. They have been through so much and still surived through it all up to this point. If the producer/director of the show want more drama, then they have a lot more options other than getting rid of the two main characters. I agree with everyone who says the show will not make it without them and I will miss One Tree Hill when it had them as a part of it.

I have watched this show since the very beginning. It took the place of Dawson's Creek for me young couples trying to figure out where their lives were gonna go. And did you see them cut Dawson and Joey in the later seasons NO! Why in the world would they do it to this show? It just doesn't make sence. Please don't get rid of Lucas and Peyton
the show is going to loose meaning. the director should find ways of ending before they main actors leave.

Ok. I have watched this show for the past 6 years because of Payton and Lucas. They are the freaking show if you havent come to realize that? In all honesty... watching them two on the show has even given me advice in life situations. You could not ever possibly replace Hilarie and Chad with a different Peyton and Lucas, its wouldnt be the same and I can promie you that you will loose veiwers. We all fell in love with Peyton and Lucas. YOU CANT DO THAT!

I will no longer watch the show. Why even tease us that peyton and Lucas are back together after the whole Lindsay ordeal. It's just STUPID. How are you going to save money?? You will lose money. A TON. Whoever came up with this plot is STUPID. Maybe you should hand it over to Peyton, so I can still watch the show.
I love this show & everyone in it, but without lucas & peyton it wont be back for an 8th season. I really hate they are being writen out & it will be the most heartbreaking episode to have to sit through. I will continue to watch, but it definitley wont be the same... =/
