'Angels and Demons' Accused of Falsely Attacking Catholic Church

Believing that author Dan Brown and director Ron Howard are 'demonizing' Catholicism, the Catholic League has declared their plans to battle the sequel of 'The Da Vinci Code', 'Angels and Demons'.

"Angels & Demons" could follow the footsteps of "The Da Vinci Code" in becoming one of the controversial movies. Before this Ron Howard-directed movie even hits the theaters, the Catholic League has announced its plans to do battle with the movie as its president Bill Donohue claimed the organization will start an educational campaign informing public about this film's anti-Catholic agenda.

"Next week we will begin to make available to the public a booklet that I wrote on 'Angels & Demons'," Donohue revealed Monday, March 2. He then explained the reasons, stating "It details the myths, lies and smears that are made against the Catholic Church. It also provides evidence of the anti-Catholic animus harbored by those associated with the film." He also added, "Author Dan Brown and director Ron Howard are getting good at this."

"'The Da Vinci Code' was replete with falsehoods presented as fact, and now the tag team is back again delivering a curious blend of fact and fiction. All done at the expense of the Catholic Church," Donohue continued explaining. "Brown-Howard are obsessed with Catholicism. It is not enough to criticize it--they are hell bent on demonizing it. It is not enough to drag out dirty laundry--they invent it. And the fact that they pay absolutely no price for their propaganda shows beyond dispute that anti-Catholicism is the one bigotry Hollywood likes."

While the Catholic League sees to enlight people of how "Angels & Demons" may entail anti-Catholic agenda, some deem the organization's plans as to aid the movie to be a hit. Those who suggest on the possibility point out on how the organization's crusade against Sony's 2006 "The Da Vinci Code" may have actually helped the thriller to score $758 million in ticket sales worldwide.

A second Dan Brown's novel to be brought to the big screen and a sequel to "The Da Vinci Code", "Angels & Demons" teams up once again director-writer duo, Ron Howard and Akiva Goldsman respectively. Supporting Tom Hanks on the casting are Ayelet Zurer, Ewan McGregor, Stellan Skarsgard, Pierfrancesco Favino and Armin Mueller-Stahl among others. This novel adaptation movie is set to be released in the U.S. on May 15.
