Etta James admits to have fooled around when slamming Beyonce Knowles over the 27-year-old's "At Last" performance during Barack Obama's inauguration ball. On emphasizing the matter, she says that she is "a comedian besides a singer."
Etta says, "She's up here singing my song, now what am I gonna do? I'm a comedian besides a singer. I wasn't doing it to be hateful... I think I'm funny and she's not the only one I'll say something about." She then adds, "She got up there and sang it and didn't give me a chance to sing 'At Last'."
Etta James previously blasted Beyonce Knowles during her show at Boulevard Casino in Coquitlam earlier in January. She stated, "The great Beyonce. Like I said, she ain't mine. ... I can't stand Beyonce. She has no business up there, singing up there on a big ol' president day, gonna be singing my song that I've been singing forever."

i think if she felt that way bout Beyonce singing her stuff, she should have came out in a more respectful way and said it. I can understand what Etta is saying. She should have been included in singing with Beyonnce. Especially at sure a grand ocassion. She was hurt and angry and I would be also. You cant just take people music and look over them. This is the same stuff happen back in the day when black artist was robbed of their music. Whoever scheduled the show should have known better. I think we have to put ourselves in Etta's place. Wouldn't you want to be the one singing your song at the presidential ball. It would have been different if Etta was no longer with us, but that is not the case and I feel Etta's hurt. So all of you think before you speak think what you would do. Singing Etta's song in a movie is one thing but to sing her song in public probably without her permission and not include Etta was wrong, wrong, wrong.

All great ladies have a limited span on that greatness and then God allows someone else's light to shine and if you are fortunate, your light will still have a glow. Usually the greats are proud to be admired by the younger generation. Your legacy will always be in tact, but instead of saying bad things about anyone, say something good so that your blessings will always be forthcoming.
