Just hours earlier, fans have been presented with a real look into the forthcoming comic book adaptation "Watchmen" through the release of its first teaser trailer. To make sure that the excitement does not rub off quickly, director Zack Snyder unveiled that if viewers watch the teaser closely, they will see the secret hidden.
Discussing further on the subject, Snyder revealed that he has done something to the teaser like what he has done with the "300" trailer in which he snuck in Rorschach test footage. The particular part where he hid the easter egg would be seen when the player hit the 1:30 mark in which it displays the clip where Ozymandias avoids an assassination attempt.
Explaining about the easter egg, the filmmaker said, "[The assassin] has a gun. So the MPAA said, 'Look you can't have him [holding the gun]'...I don't even think it's one second. I think it's like 12 frames. He's pointing the gun at the camera, and they said, 'You can't do that.' So we erased the gun. And put a walkie-talkie in his hand."
Adding further, he referred the changes to what director Steven Spielberg has done to transform the federal agents' gun in "E.T.". "It was a total Spielberg reference," he added. "Because I was like, 'Well, it worked for Spielberg, so we should do that. Just put a walkie-talkie in his hand!'...[The editors] were like, 'But then you cut to a real gun!' but I'm like, 'No one will ever see that; they'll think he had a gun in the other shot, so it's fine.'"
"Watchmen" follows the story of former vigilante Rorschach who while investigating the death of his former colleague, discovers a murder plot of all superheroes. Now, faced with the fight for survival, he has to reunite with his former teammates to stop it from happening. The adventure fantasy film set for March 6, 2009 release stars Jackie Earle Haley, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Malin Akerman et cetera and it is directed by McG.
