Following a number of denials, the newlyweds have finally confirmed that they indeed are expecting their first child together.
The persistent reports on Ashlee Simpson's pregnancy are true. Following a number of denials and refusals to address on the reports, the singer and her husband Pete Wentz have finally confirmed that they are expecting their first child together.
No press conference, only a post on Wentz's site, friendsorenemies.com. Under the title "Breaking News From Pete And Ashlee", the newlyweds wrote "While many have speculated about this, we wanted to wait until after the first trimester to officially confirm that we are expecting our first child."
The couple then went on adding, "This is truly the most joyous time in our lives and we are excited to share the happy news and start our family."
Ashlee was rumored to be pregnant with Wentz's child soon after she announced their engagement on his official site on April 9. While the expectant songstress continued to shrug off questions about the issue, Wentz was quick to call foul that he has impregnated her, branded those rumors as "crazy".
And following the pregnancy reports, the couple were also hit with speculation of a wedding. Remained silent on their nuptials, the celebrity couple had the first public photos from their wedding, which was held May 17 at the Encino home of her parents, debuted on the cover of People, the edition of which hit the newsstands on May 2.
No words on the exact date Ashlee is due to give birth.
