Rapper Common has revealed to MTV that he will star in Timur Bekmambetov-directed action feat "Wanted (2008)."
Polishing his path in acting field, rapper Common has delightfully landed a role in high-profile action flick "Wanted (2008)" which thus will team him up with big names like Angelina Jolie, James McAvoy, and Morgan Freeman, the artist himself has confirmed.
"My character in 'Wanted' is called the Gunsmith," Common told MTV. "I'm basically this dude that's a master at shooting guns. I'm training this gentleman that's coming in, who really has certain abilities but doesn't know it; I'm training him on how to be what he should be."
The gentleman the rapper refers to could as well be McAvoy's character, Wesley Gibson, a young man who finds out that his murdered father is an assassin then joins his old organization to follow in his footsteps under the tutelage of Sloan (Freeman) and his second-in-command, Fox (Jolie).
An adaptation of Mark Millar and J.G. Jones' comic book miniseries, "Wanted" has already had Russian filmmaker Timur Bekmambetov onboard to direct for Universal Pictures, which has set March 28, 2008 release date for the project. Common has revealed that he will begin filming his scenes next week in Prague, Czech Republic.
In related news, the rapper is also reported to be in negotiations for another starring role in thriller drama "The Night Watchman (aka Night Watch (2008))", which David Ayer is set to direct for Fox Searchlight. If deals are reached, he will likely play a heroin dealer from Belize named Coates, who is posing as an undercover police officer.
