Artist of the Week: Imagine Dragons

Week 6 of 2014

Imagine Dragons

is apparently having a great 2014 as they already kicked off the year with some impressive achievements. The Las Vegas band's biggest new accomplishment is, of course, the trophy they won at the Grammys on Sunday, January 26.

Dan Reynolds and his mates won Best Rock Performance for their smashing hit "Radioactive". The four-piece edged out competitors that included , , , and .

"Radioactive" is a single off "", the band's debut studio album which arrived back in 2012 and peaked at No. 2 on Billboard 200. The track itself bowed at No. 3 on Billboard 100 and was named the biggest rock hit of 2013 by Rolling Stone.

Despite that, the band didn't think that the song would win a Grammy. In an interview with Rolling Stone several days before the awards show, Reynolds said, "Let me just say that we are definitely not going into this thinking we're going to win a Grammy."

"We're up for Record of the Year, and 'Radioactive' was a big song. But songs like 'Blurred Lines' were huge. If I were a voter, I'd be like, ' was at the VMAs with his pin-striped suit, and is cute - and who are Imagine Dragons? I have no idea what those dudes even look like!' When that's the take, you know you're not going to win that award," the 26-year-old vocalist explained.

Imagine Dragons did lose the Record of the Year award to . However, they're totally fine with winning the Best Rock Performance. "We've been a band for five years, and for four of those we played small clubs across the U.S.," Reynolds told L.A. Times after the win. "So I feel a lot of mixed emotions."

"All those bands to us are the greatest rock musicians ever, and we've learned so much from them," he added. "But we'll take the Grammy."

During that night's Grammys, Imagine Dragons also took the stage to perform their Grammy-winning track. They were joined by rapper , who rapped his own "m.A.A.d City". The amazing collaboration became the most talked-about performance on Twitter as it garnered 171,593 tweets per minute.

The remix of "Radioactive" with Lamar was then released on iTunes. During the Saturday, February 1 episode of "", Lamar appeared onstage to perform the new version with Imagine Dragons.
