I hate the negative and false stereotypes Disney is perpetuating in this film to children, it's horrible and embarrassing. In a film that is supposed to represent royalty, dignity, honor, and make little girls hold their head high when they leave the theatre, Disney dropped the ball. My 6 year old princess will NOT be seeing this crap, I refuse to allow Disney to have these sounds and images taint her precious mind. And while everyone is praising 2D animation, my daughter is a Pixar snob, and prefers those movies. Hollywood seems to be on a constant die hard pursuit to steal our ( African / African American ) truth by continuing to try and force Cleopatra and king Tut, as Europeans. Tell me how that makes any sense, a European King and Queen in the middle of Africa? Impossible, that skin type can't even handle the sun alone. Yet Hollywood is still determined to take the ancient majesty and wonders of Egypt and make it European, I'm SO over it! There were HUNDREDS of real life Kings and Queens in Africa with AWESOME real stories yet to be told here in the US, and Disney came up with this lame story line. I'm not impressed at all. Seems as if Disney spent $2 dollars on this film and didn't put much time, imagination, or effort into this movie, we expected sooo much more. All my girlfriends and I gave this film several thumbs down! An African American Princess being portrayed as a FROG throughout most of the movie navigating through a swap, lead by a firefly with crooked antenna's, 2 teeth going 2 different directions, who you need subtitles to even understand? I don't think so, we were the 1st people on the earth, the 1st kings and Queens, yet this is how you see us. Great, thanks! The ebony Queen behind the most powerful man in the world today, Michelle O., is covered in deep rich ebony tones, with a Harvard law degree, a carbon copy of her mother, and of her mother, and of her mother. In this film, the mother who is called "mama Odie", is blind, toothless, hairless, doesn't use correct English ( like the firefly ), kisses snakes, and practices voodoo. I wasn't even allowed to refer to my mother as mama, my sisters and I had to use the word mother at all times. The only male lead African American role is an evil voodoo priest. So who do young African American boys relate to in the film that so called represents their sisters, aunts, cousins, and mothers? He isn't even represented, some Spanish dude took his spot. And no, I wasn't feeling the outdated 2D graphics, that was a BIG let down. BOO! The whole movie has an evil over tone. I would have to explain what voodoo is to my child now so she could even understand this movie, nah, we'll just pass on this like we have every other Princess movie that didn't represent us.
