The cast is strong and some of the lines - particularly the title cards, which pop up to offer back stories - are fun, but there is a lack of heart to the movie.
by Elf [Iofilm ]
suffers notably from the lack of depth that might normally be revealed through the ensemble cast's performances
by Francesca Dinglasan [Boxoffice Magazine ]
Subversively funny yet unexpectedly heartwarming, it's one of the most outrageously entertaining comedies in years
by Calvin Wilson [St. Louis Post-Dispatch ]
stand-out funny and, when it counts, startlingly moving.
by Bob Strauss [L.A. Daily News ]
Roos' major hurdle is keeping all the characters and stories in check without losing control, and he mostly accomplishes it.
by Eric D. Snider [The Land of Eric ]
Roos is a fine storyteller capable of sketching original characters with a master's eye for detail
by [E! Online ]
Roos does an admirable job balancing the tragedy and comedy
by Allison Benedikt [Chicago Tribune ]
It's uneven, interesting and nice.
by Eugene Novikov [Film Blather ]
is like being locked in a room for two hours with people you loathe
by James Verniere [Boston Herald ]
is certainly watchable
by Tim Knight [Reel ]
is amusingly observant of the human condition.
by Jeremy Mathews [Film Threat, Hollywood's Indie Voice ]
has the best acting ensemble to date this year and dares to be something a little different
by Mark Plante [The Cinema Source ]
fine performances from the cast
by [The Movie Chicks ]
feels as overwrought and curiously weightless
by Wesley Morris [Boston Globe ]
delivers on its title and then some
by David Germain [Denver Rocky Mountain News ]
comes off like an undernourished Paul Thomas Anderson wannabe
by Todd McCarthy [Variety at Sundance 2005 ]
benefits from strong casting, with all delivering solidly
