The movie stars Hutch Dano, who plays the character Alex Pearson. Alex gets suspended from his hockey team and ends up having to fill in as a Bumble Bee Troop Leader for his sister Emily's (G. Hannelius) troop. However, Alex isn't that upset because he gets Emily and the other girls in the troop to do his chores in exchange for merit badges.

In addition, in his new troop leader role, he can get close to Matisse Burrows (Kelsey Chow) who leads another Bumble Bee Troop - but will she like him or is he too self-centered?

Can Alex learn about his negative traits and fix them before it's too late? He might have to after he costs his troop the opportunity to participate in the Camporee! Can Alex find a way to get the girls back in?
