Movie Story
Jennifer Garner stars in Columbia Pictures' romantic comedy-drama "Catch and Release," from writer-director Susannah Grant, an Academy Award® nominee for her screenplay for "Erin Brockovich." After the sudden death of her fiancé, Gray Wheeler (Garner) finds comfort in the company of his friends: lighthearted and comic Sam (Kevin Smith), hyper-responsible Dennis (Sam Jaeger), and, oddly enough, his old childhood buddy Fritz (Timothy Olyphant), an irresponsible playboy whom she'd previously pegged as one of the least reliable people in the world. As secrets about her supposedly perfect fiancé emerge, Gray comes to see new sides of the man she thought she knew, and at the same time, finds herself drawn to the last man she ever expected to fall for.

This movie is about the loss of a partner for life who never gets to spend the rest of "her"life with "him". The character Jennifer plays is low key; as in mourning. As she is planning his funeral, not "their " wedding that very weekend, she finds a very different world he shared outside of their relationship. His trips to LA were not "all business" as "Gray " comes to find. Put on the spot by the woman whom was reaping the financial benifite of Grady's wealth. Yesm his parents had money , but not necessarily Grady. As his mother the stuffy widow.....states" this kid will get none of my son's money".........not sayong the money Gray and Gradu would have shared prior to the tragic weekend. I thought Jennifer pulled this off with a masterpiece performance and "Sam" always cheering her up with wisdom from the tea boxes. If you have never experienced the loss of an early unexpected death in your life, this movie will have no relative value. Only then, I would suggest watching this agsin and then you will know what the expresson she always carried on her face throughout the movie. Music hit every part of the scenes played out to dramatize the non verbal feeling. Listen again and you will feel the hurt the emptimess and the release of pain through your held together friendships. The mother =in-law, being the victim and alone, no friends to turn to.......makes you understand why this character is such a bitch ..she has no family and cast the only person who"would have been family" out of her world. No reason to stay in Boulder, finds her new life in a place she least expects. Pefect end to the movie. I've watched this movie 25 times and still hear new dialog every time I see this movie. Makes me want to move to Colorado and live in Boulder. Excellent screen writing and great majestic scenes with superb music in the backround! 5 stars!!!
