'The Avengers' Costume Designer Creates Spacesuit for Elon Musk's Falcon 9 Astronauts

The Hollywood top designer who worked on superhero movies like 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice' and 'The Avengers' have created the suits for U.S. astronauts.

AceShowbiz - The stylish spacesuits worn by the history-making astronauts on board tech guru Elon Musk's SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket that blasted off from Cape Canaveral in Florida on Saturday, May 30. 2020 were designed by a top Hollywood costume designer.

Jose Fernandez, who worked on "Batman v Superman" and "The Avengers", created the prototype for the suits protecting Douglas Hurley and Robert Behnken en route to the International Space Station.

The blast-off of the first manned U.S. rocket into space for almost a decade was cancelled on Wednesday due to weather conditions, but the astronauts' out-of-this-world adventure eventually got underway on Saturday afternoon, with U.S. leader Donald Trump and Vice-President Mike Pence in Florida for the launch.

Hurley and Behnken's Crew Dragon capsule will link up with the International Space Station on Sunday.

Celebrities like Ellie Goulding, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Elizabeth Banks watched the blast-off in awe and took to social media to salute Musk and his space heroes.

"I watched. Speechless. Incredible," singer Ellie tweeted while actress and "Charlie's Angels" director Banks confessed she cried, adding, "Space travel really inspires me. #nasa #SpaceX congrats on today's launch and safe journey - wow."

"True Lies" star Curtis added, "Watching the launch. The moments before with their families. The air hugs. The thumbs up. The bravery. The bold ideas. The innovation. The thousands of people coming together."

There were also tributes from Karen Gillan, Shannen Doherty, and "Star Trek" icon George Takei, who posted, "Congratulations @SpaceX for an historic achievement! Humanity needs hope, and you have provided a much needed burst of it."
